Football Recap: Broncos Stage Late Comeback Against Philadelphia, Baltimore Suffer Record Home-field Loss

Denver Broncos 21–17 Philadelphia Eagles

Denver's quarterback found a short scoring throw and JK Dobbins contributed a two-yard ground touchdown in the final period as the Broncos overcame a two-touchdown disadvantage to deliver the Eagles their initial defeat of the campaign. Denver's defense batted down the Eagles quarterback's last-gasp pass on the contest's last snap to send the Super Bowl champions to just their second defeat in their last 22 games. The Broncos (3-2) got fortunate in their rally when the Eagles had a late fourth-down conversion nullified on a formation infraction called on running back Saquon Barkley.

Houston Texans 44–10 Baltimore Ravens

Houston's quarterback passed for 244 passing yards and four touchdowns, and Houston (two wins and three losses) cruised to a decisive victory over a depleted Baltimore team, matching both the biggest away victory in Texans' history and the worst home defeat in Baltimore's annals. Baltimore (one win and four losses) were missing star signal-caller Jackson, and that was far from their only problem. Key defenders Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey all were absent, and the Baltimore already were weakened on that side of the ball because of a neck problem that ended Nnamdi Madubuike's campaign. Baltimore were also without Pro Bowl blocker Ricard and offensive lineman Stanley.

Colts Rout Raiders in One-Sided Affair

Indianapolis' running back ran for three rushing scores and a two-pointer, and Daniel Jones threw two touchdown passes as the Indianapolis Colts overwhelmed the Las Vegas Raiders. The 34-point margin was Indy's biggest since the 2013 season. The quarterback finished 20 passes out of 29 attempts for 212 yards and moved to four wins and one loss as a starter this year, surpassing his combined victory total over the past two seasons with the Giants. The running back rushed 17 attempts for 66 rushing yards and grabbed three passes for 20 yards. The Colts converted multiple takeaways into touchdowns. The Raiders fell to four wins and one loss.

Dallas Cowboys 37-22 New York Jets

Dallas' quarterback passed for four touchdown passes, guiding the Dallas Cowboys to a comfortable win over the New York Jets. The Cowboys scored on two long marches in the second period, even with missing four starters on the offensive line. The running back ran for 135 yards and a touchdown and also caught a TD pass. Dallas, now 2-2-1, rebounded from a high-scoring draw against the Packers last week. The Jets are still without a victory at 0-5 in Aaron Glenn's inaugural year as head coach.

Vikings Edge Browns in London Thriller

Minnesota wideout Jordan Addison grabbed a 12-yard touchdown pass from the quarterback with under half a minute left to give Minnesota victory over the Browns at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The 10-play, 80-yard drive gave the Minnesota (3-2) a much-needed win on their overseas journey, which started with a 24-21 loss to the Pittsburgh in Ireland last Sunday. It also spoiled Dillon Gabriel's first NFL start, as the Cleveland rookie put his team (1-4) in contention by throwing two scores. Another first-year player Quinshon Judkins rushed for 110 yards on 23 attempts. Wentz shook off a shoulder injury that temporarily forced him out and led two touchdown marches in the latter half.

Panthers Stage Epic Comeback Against Dolphins

Carolina's quarterback threw for two touchdowns and the running back rushed for 206 yards and a touchdown as the Carolina Panthers rallied past the Dolphins in their home stadium. Young's short pass to rookie tight end Mitchell Evans with under two minutes to play gave the Panthers (2-3) the lead for good as they matched the largest comeback to win a game in franchise history by erasing a large deficit. The QB had a horrific first quarter, but he ended up 19 completions on 30 attempts for 198 passing yards with an interception. The backup, filling in for injured Chuba Hubbard, did his work on the run on 23 attempts, coming up just short shy of the team's all-time rushing mark. Miami's quarterback threw 27 of 36 for 256 passing yards with three touchdowns and receiver Waddle accumulated 110 receiving yards on six catches and scored a score, but the Miami (one win and four losses) dropped to 0-3 in away contests.

Saints Secure First Win Under New Coach

Spencer Rattler threw an 87-yard score to Rashid Shaheed, safety Jordan Howden scooped up a loose ball the length of the field for a touchdown, and New Orleans defeated the turnover-prone Giants for the Saints' initial win under rookie coach Kellen Moore. The QB earned his maiden win in 11 professional starts, passing for 225 passing yards without any mistakes. Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart, who won his debut last Sunday, threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, but also turned the ball over three times. The Giants gave up possession five times in all, with none worse than when Bryan Bresee stripped running back Cam Skattebo, resulting in the safety's touchdown. Each squad are one win and four losses.
