UK Military Bases to House Refugee Applicants in Bid to End Hotel-Based Accommodation
Several hundred individuals seeking protection might be housed in military barracks as the government aims to phase out the utilization of hotel accommodations.
Discussions are ongoing regarding the utilization of two facilities - a facility in northern Britain and another in the English south - for accommodation for nine hundred males.
The government leader has instructed Home Office and Military Ministry representatives to accelerate efforts to find proper armed forces locations.
The administration has vowed to terminate the use of asylum hotels, which have cost billions in funds and turned into a focal point for anti-asylum seeker rallies.
Under Consideration Defense Facilities
Individuals may be placed in the Cameron military facility in Highland region and East Sussex training site in southeastern England by the conclusion of the coming month.
Manufacturing locations, temporary accommodation and otherwise disused accommodation are also being considered for future accommodation.
Government Statements
Authoritative figures indicated that each location would adhere to wellbeing requirements.
"Our administration is furious at the extent of illegal migrants and refugee lodging facilities."
"The current leadership will shut down all refugee hotels. Work are well underway, with additional appropriate locations being proposed to ease pressure on local areas and decrease asylum costs."
Current Housing Data
Around 32 thousand individuals seeking protection are at this time being accommodated in temporary lodging, representing a drop from a high point of over 56,000 in the previous year.
A recent report found that substantial amounts of government revenue had been "wasted" on asylum accommodation.
Earlier Defense Facility Operation
Two former military sites - the Wethersfield facility in the eastern county and former military base in Kent - are presently being operated to house individuals seeking protection after being established under the previous administration.
The administration head stated on the developments, saying: "The government is resolved to close every refugee hotel. I can't tell you how troubled and alarmed we are that we've been left with a challenge as significant as this by the last government."
